Virtual Reality in Construction and Real Estate

Virtual Reality in Construction and Real Estate

Currently, there are numerous barriers that prevent constructing new buildings and selling real estate. The biggest issue with new construction is how difficult it is to visualize what the finished product will look like prior to it being built. And when attempting to sell real estate, some of the largest barriers arise from geographical location and personal schedules. If someone is interested in buying a home far away, it’s difficult for them to get a full feel for the property without taking the time out of their schedule to physically go to it. Imagine being able to see what a finished building will look like before it’s even built, or being able to take virtual tours of homes around the world without leaving the room. I believe that with the power of virtual reality headsets this will become common in the construction and real estate industries.
In the 2016 article written by PixelPerfect Studios, “How Virtual Reality is Changing the Real Estate Landscape,” it is said that virtual reality headsets can allow us to do these things at our own convenience. It explains that companies now have the ability to create virtual reality tours of properties and their surroundings that can be viewed by potential buyers from around the globe. Also, construction companies can invest in creating immersive virtual reality tours of finished projects before they’re built. This article is credible because it comes from a team of passionate designers that collaborate to meet their clients’ needs in the manufacturing, computer graphics, and real estate industries.

Future research question:
What effect will virtual reality have on the entertainment industry?
